When I moved here 5 years ago, I gathered a practical truck load of groceries and everything was rung up. But ooooops! Overtired space-case that I was that day, I had left my wallet at home in the diaper bag. The cashier must have seen how crushed and stressed out I was, b/c she calmly said "Do you live here, dear? We can put it on and I.O.U." I was impressed; I literally had moved in that week, so had no history as a reliable customer to them. They wrote it out on a slip of paper, and I paid the next time I came in. That level of trust simply doesn't exist in many shops today, and it felt great.
Now of course I am a regular there. Other reasons: the meat selection is very good, fresh, reliable. Service is friendly and super attentive.
They could improve on some of their inventory: how about organic deli meats (no nitrates, etc.) and more take-away pre-made dinners? I know their space is limited. . .but they could better compete then with Whole Foods and Wild Oats.
